Stonehenge

Our final excursion was to Stonehenge, one of the marvels of the ancient world.

Nuestra excursión final fue a Stonehenge, una de las maravillas del mundo antiguo.

We had the opportunity to learn about these mysterious stones and their context within a greater area of ancient burial sites.

Tuvimos la oportunidad de aprender sobre estas piedras misteriosas y su contexto dentro de un área mayor de los cementerios antiguos.

Salisbury

We began our final excursion early on Saturday morning. Firstly we travelled to Salisbury. This ancient city conserves much of it’s character dating back 800 years.

Comenzamos nuestra excursión final el sábado por la mañana. En primer lugar fuimos a Salisbury. Esta antigua ciudad conserva mucho de su carácter que se data de 800 años.

We visited the area around the 13th century cathedral, inside the cathedral and the Salisbury market. The cathedral was built is in just 28 years and contains the world’s oldest working clock.

 

Visitamos el área alrededor de la catedral del siglo 13, en el interior de la catedral y el mercado de Salisbury. La catedral fue construida en tan sólo 28 años y contiene el reloj más antiguo del mundo que funcionar.

Fish ‘n Chips

After a long walk and an enjoyable bus ride back to Brighton, we ate fish and chips on the beach.

Después de una larga caminata y un divertido viaje en autobús de vuelta a Brighton, comimos fish and chips en la playa.

This is a traditional meal on Fridays in England, although it less common than before. The price of fish has increased considerably and it is quite fattening.

Esta es una comida tradicional de los viernes en Inglaterra, aunque menos común que antes. El precio del pescado ha aumentado considerablemente y es muy engorde.

Devil’s Dyke

Our multi national group of students walked up to Devil’s Dyke, an 8km walk from the school. Along country lanes, through a farm and summer fields, we enjoyed the English countryside at it’s best.

 

Nuestro grupo multinacional de estudiantes se acercó Devil Dyke, una caminata de 8 km de la escuela. A lo largo de caminos rurales, a través de una granja y campos de verano, disfrutamos del campo Inglés en su esplendor.

 

 

The views from the South Downs (a National Park ) and across the valleys were memorable.

Las vistas desde laos colinas de los South Downs (un Parque Nacional) y a través de los valles fueron memorables.

 

 

We could even see a cricket match in the distance.

Incluso podríamos ver un partido de cricket en la distancia.

 

 

 

 

 

We then took an open topped bus to Brighton to meet the rest of the group in Brighton for’ Fish ‘n Chips’.

Tomamos luego un autobús abierto por arriba a Brighton para ‘Fish ‘n Chips’.

Project Presentations

It is the final day of classes and two classes presented their group projects.

Es el último día de clases y dos clases presentaron sus proyectos de grupo.

It was a pleasure to listen a variety of interesting themes including music, famous monuments and food from different countries.

 

Fue un placer escuchar una variedad de temas interesantes, incluyendo música, famosos monumentos y la comida de diferentes países.

The students worked in small groups with friends from different countries so that they had to plan, research, record and present their project in English.

Los estudiantes trabajaron en pequeños grupos con amigos de diferentes países por lo que tenían que planear, investigar, escribir y presentar su proyecto en Inglés.

Sports

A healthy body makes a healthy mind, as we say in England.

Un cuerpo sano hace una mente sana, como decimos en Inglaterra.

The students have participated in a variety of sports and games including table tennis, a mini olympics, ‘rounders’, volleyball, badminton, football and dodge ball. I have been impressed by the way my group have participated and enjoyed themselves.

Los estudiantes han participado en una variedad de deportes y juegos como ping-pong, mini-olimpiadas, ‘Rounders’, voleibol, bádminton, fútbol y balón prisionero. He quedado impresionado por la forma en que mi grupo ha participado y disfrutado las actividades.

Class Observation

This morning I observed a class using the past simple and past continuous in the context of a surviving on and escaping from a tropical island.

Esta mañana he observado una clase utilizando el pasado continuo y el pasado simple en el contexto de un grupo de  supervivientes que tienen que  escapar de una isla tropical.

Although the emphasis was on listening and speaking, the students cooperated well to complete a comic strip of their adventure.

Aunque el énfasis estaba en escuchar y hablar, los estudiantes también cooperaron para completar un cómic de su aventura.

Brighton Pier

Brighton Palace Pier was opened in a grand ceremony on the 20th May 1899 costing an unprecedented £27,000 to build.

Brighton Palace Pier fue inaugurado en una gran ceremonia en el 20 de mayo 1899 con un costo sin precedentes de 27.000 libras para construir.

Piers became a popular focus for holiday entertainment in the late nineteenth and twentieth century for British working class families.

Piers se convirtió en un foco para el entretenimiento de vacaciones a finales del siglo XIX y XX para British familias de clase trabajadora.

Some students enjoyed trying the traditional 2 penny machines.

Algunos estudiantes disfrutaron jugar los máquinas de dos peniques.

Others tried out scary rides.

Otros montaron más temibles atracciones.

Brighton Museum

Not every students likes the same thing. Inglés Ya always tries to cater for different needs and interests

No todos los estudiantes gustan lo mismo.  Inglés Ya siempre trata de atender a las necesidades e intereses diferentes de ccada estudiante.

For example, today I took a small group to Brighton Museum, while other students played sports.

Por ejemplo, hoy me llevó a un grupo pequeño al Museo de Brighton, mientras que otros estudiantes practicaban deportes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Social Night

We spent a couple of hours at a Brighton club for under 18 year olds.
